Richard Howard McPherson

McPHERSON, Richard Howard, 88, passed away November 10, 2010 in Monroeville, Alabama. He was born August 30, 1922 and spent most of his life in Forsyth County. He retired from Allied Tool & Dye in Kernersville where he was employed as a machinist. ""Dick"" was a Western Square Dance caller, and entertained numerous square dance clubs throughout the South. He was the caller for the Winston-Salem Club, Salem Squares, for over 25 years, and a member of the North Carolina Square Dance Callers Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Melba Lundy McPherson of Monroeville, Alabama. Two sons, Richard H. McPherson Jr. and wife Linda of Winston-Salem, and David Randal McPherson and wife Kathy of Kernersville, and nephew Robert Ronald McPherson and wife Judith of Atlantic Beach. Three grandsons, Richard McPherson III and Ryan McPherson of Winston-Salem and Michael McPherson of Ashboro, NC. One granddaughter, Meredith McPherson of Winston-Salem, two stepdaughters Jane Walker Hege of High Point and Karen Lundy Trimble of Robertsdale, Alabama. Four stepsons, Mark Walker of Winston-Salem, Clinton ""Skip"" Summerlin of Durham, NC, Mark Lundy of Monroeville, Alabama and Wayne Lundy of New Orleans, Louisiana. Nine step grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller, and all other times at the home of Rick and Linda McPherson. Memorial service will be held at 3pm Sunday November 14 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church.
