Richard Johnson

Mr. Richard “Kelly” Johnson, 87, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1934, in Bennettsville, South Carolina to the late Gary Aden and Hester Thompson Johnson. He was a member of Rural Hall Christian Church. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an avid Carolina Tarheel fan and enjoyed bowling in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Gary Johnson, Jr. Kelly is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Greene Johnson; children, Steve Johnson (Karen), Diane Boyer (Dale), and Carmen Hutchens (Jason); six grandchildren, Emma, Jessica, Trent, Noah, Daniel, and Tyler; and five great-grandchildren, Raelynn, Gwyn, Tessa, Penelope, and Joshua. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Dr. Wesley McCarter and Pastor Peter Cain officiating. Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00- 10:45 AM Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the funeral home.
