Mr. Richard Lovell Edgeworth, 82, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Oak Forest Nursing and Rehabilitation in Winston-Salem. He was born March 15, 1927 in Monroe, NC to the late Arthur and Leona Davis Edgeworth. Mr. Edgeworth was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church in Rural Hall. He proudly served our country during WWII in the United States Coast Guard and was currently a member of American Legion Post #290 in King. He retired from Gould National Battery with 25 years of service. Mr. Edgeworth is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Julia N. Edgeworth of the home, a daughter, Diane Jessup and husband Doug of Lewisville, a son, Ricky Edgeworth and wife Debbie of Rural Hall and three grandchildren, Amy Jessup, Daniel Jessup and Ryan Edgeworth. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Rural Hall Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Rev. Sidney Lanier officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Greenwood, Dr. Motew, the staff of Northside Dialysis,The Wound Center, Forsyth Medical Center and Rural Hall Fire Dept. for all of the kindness and care shown to Richard in his time of need.
