Richard Denny

Richard Todd Denny passed away peacefully Sunday September 18, 2022, at his home. He was born in Martinsville, Va to the late Herman Carter Denny and Sue Wilson Denny. He was retired from Food Lion in King, NC.  Richard is survived by his brothers Jeff Denny of Raleigh, NC and Scott Williams of Scottsdale, AZ. Nieces Maggie Denny of Raleigh, NC and Lindsay Denny of Ooltewah, TN as well as nephew Carter Denny of St. Simons Island, GA. Richard attended The North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton, NC graduating in 1984. He also attended The Central NC School for the Deaf in Greensboro as well as mainstreaming at Anderson High School in Winston Salem for a short period of time. Richard was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He loved to travel and explore our great land. His biggest passion was watching, feeling, and smelling the modified race cars at Bowman Gray Stadium and his “man” Burt Myers. He followed his passion by traveling to the many other racetracks where the modifieds raced throughout the Southeast. He loved his Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Emphatically telling Dean Smith while his brother was being recruited to UNC that Wake Forest was his favorite team. Coach Smith graciously offered that maybe he could become a UNC fan for the next four years and he did. The family would like to thank the many friends in the community over the years that had a hand on Richards shoulders as he lived a life in total quiet. Because of this generosity, he always felt he could be and do the things that everyone else did. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday October 7th at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall, NC. A graveside service will be 4 pm Saturday October 8th at Rural Hall Memorial Park.
