Mr. Richard Edward Conrad, 77, of Winston-Salem died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 8, 1932 in Forsyth County, the son of the late John Joseph Conrad, Sr. and Pearl Beroth Conrad. Mr. Conrad was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a graduate of Lewisville High School and Catawba College. He served with the US Air Force from 1953 until 1957 as a Staff Sgt. at Randolph Field, TX. He was a Licensed Residental Contractor and retired from Proctor and Gamble Company. He was President of Conrad Ventures, Inc. Builders and Developers and owner of Vineyard Plaza from conception until 2006. Mr. Conrad served as Minister of Music at South Fork Baptist , Lewisville Baptist and West Side Baptist Churches over a 45 year span of time and was manager of the church softball team at Westside Baptist Church. He was an avid collector of antique and classic cars, was a great sportsman and loved to hunt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Hicks and Lula Hicks and one brother, Hillus (Tip) Conrad, Sr. Survivors include his wife, Christine Conrad of the home; one daughter, Cynthia Conrad of Winston-Salem; two sons, Richard C. Conrad and wife, Lisa and their children, Christine, Evan, and Ian and John P. Conrad and wife, Christy and their children, Brooke, Ben and Emily all of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Lillie Hicks of Lewisville and Julia Windsor of Pleasant Garden; and one brother, John Joseph Conrad, Sr. and wife Mac of Pfafftown. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 10:00 AM at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Chambers Room at Calvary Baptist Church.
