Richard Arland Cobbler

KERNERSVILLE - Richard Arland Cobbler, 72, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born August 28, 1939 in Forsyth County to the late Elmer Lee and Pearl Loy Cobbler. Richard was a member of Church of God - Mayodan and worked at Burlington Industries for 28 years. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Ralph and Bobby; two sisters, Cleo and Edna; and one grandson, Michael. Surviving are his wife, Kay Mathis Cobbler, of the home; two daughters, Sandra Lynn Shields (Robert) of Walkertown and Penny Marie Gillespie (Wally) of Easley, SC; two sons, David Arland Cobbler, of the home and Richard Darrell Cobbler (Angela) of Spartanburg, SC; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five sisters, Peggy, Virginia, Rose, Brenda and Shirley. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, April 15 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Charles Green and Rev. Frank Goings officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
