Richard Clinard

Mr. Richard Gene Clinard, 82, of Clemmons, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017. He was born February 18, 1935 in Forsyth County to the late Theodore Alexander Clinard and Lorene Brewer Clinard. Mr. Clinard was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting deer and turkey. He married his wife, Mrs. Barbara Joyce Greer Clinard in 1956 and they were married for sixty-one years. Mr. Clinard retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with thirty years of service and he was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed his daily tradition of reading the newspaper, word for word. Preceding him in death are his parents, two brothers: Lorenza Clinard and JW Clinard, and a sister, Elizabeth Ann Clinard. Surviving are his wife, two daughters: Libby Staley and Peggy O'Briant and husband Michael of Oak Island; a son, Rusty Clinard and wife Sheila; seven grandchildren: Renee Little and husband Nick, Michael Lee O'Briant II, Ben Staley and wife Ashlyn of Clemmons, Jamie Clinard and wife Ashley, Heather Gastley and husband Brian, Erica Clinard, and Ryan Melton; six great-grandchildren: Rylan Staley, Brayden Staley, Easton Clinard, Trey O'Briant, McKenzie Gastley, and Judson Gastley; a brother, Alton Clinard of Gulf Breeze, FL; a sister, Frances Wilson and husband C.A. of Franklin; a son-in-law, Danny Staley; and his beloved dog, Petey. A graveside service will be conducted in his honor 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Chris Byrne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at New Friendship Baptist Church, 4258 Old Lexington Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
