Richard Branson Charles

Mr. Richard Branson Charles passed away Tuesday evening December 22, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Richard was born in Forsyth County on January 2, 1942, to the late Clarence and Virginia Charles. He loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and going to the beach. Richard took this passion to another level by becoming an Eagle Scout. One of his other talents was restoring old Thunderbird cars. Richard was a past Master Mason in the Piedmont Lodge, and he retired from the Forsyth County Sheriffs Department. Richard loved spending time with his grandchildren and his poodle, Zack. He is survived by his wife Frances Charles; daughter Kimberly Charles of Englewood, FL; three step-daughters Amanda Davis Kistler, Robin (Chick) Plunkett and Mitzi (Jeff) Coe; Seven grandchildren Mallory Kistler Whitley, Caleb Kistler, Maggie and Mollie Plunkett, and Abbie, Corbin, and Emery Coe; and brother Robert E. (Linda) Charles. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 27, 2009, at Pinedale Christian Church with Pastor Bob McCaskill and Pastor Bill McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Saturday from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Church. Memorials may be made to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, Inc. 600 College St. Oxford, NC 27565.
