Richard Curtis Brown, 76, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Priddy Manor in King, NC. He was born in Surry County, NC on June 28, 1936 the son of the late Hubert Franklin and Imogene Hawks Brown. Mr. Brown retired from Bahnson Company after 33 years of service and Sara Lee Hosiery after 10 years of service. Mr. Brown was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Amburn. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lila Harvey Brown of Rural Hall; two sons, Larry Brown of King and Randy Brown (Rena) of Rural Hall; four grandchildren: Krista Cranford (Jeb), Jessica Brown, Brittany Brown and Leah Mabe (Daniel); two sisters, Phyllis Bullins (Randy) of Germanton and Barbie Holt of Stoneville; two brothers, Ronald Brown (Carolyn) and Roland Brown both of Pinnacle; and also, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with the Rev. Tracey Collins, Pastor Danny Hall and Ms. Julie Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Sunday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. before the funeral services.
