KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Richard ""Dick"" Kenneth Blevins, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Dick was born on February 13, 1933 in Forsyth County to the late William Edgar and Myrtle Howell Blevins. He started his career by building homes and later opened Salvage Discount which he owned and operated for 50 years. His love of flying led him to obtain his private pilot's license. Dick was a veteran of the US Army. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Colleen Q. Blevins; 3 sons, Mark Blevins, David Blevins (wife, Tammy), Phillip Blevins (wife, Michelle); 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, two sisters Jean Scales and Opal Floyd; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Pete Kunkle and Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, at the funeral home.
