Rexford Rex Earl Collins

Mr. Rexford ""Rex"" Earl Collins, 57, of Kernersville, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 9, 1951 in Mecklenburg County to Dewey W. and Mary Boone Collins. Mr. Collins was a member of Pine Chapel Moravian Church and was employed with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather ""Opa"", devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey William Collins, three brothers, Jack, Bill and Dewey Collins. Surviving are his wife of the home, Marion Collins; his mother, Mary Collins of Winston-Salem, four children, Steve Collins of Kernersville, Anne Cullum (Jason) of Jacksonville, FL, Patrick Doutt (Sara) of Greensboro and Stephanie Snyder (Jeff) of Greensboro; seven grandchildren, Brittany Collins, Eli and Silas Cullum, Gavin, Evan and Kamryn Snyder and Savanna Doutt; brothers and sisters, Louise Alexander (Larry) of Angier, Dr. Bobby Collins (Docia) of Ashland, VA, Ann Spinks (Jerry) of James Island, SC, Kay Jaffe of Roslyn, PA, Wayne Collins (Pat) of Winston-Salem, Tom Collins (Kay) of Sylva, Ted Collins (Wendy) of King, Joe Collins of Winston-Salem and Doris Wilson (Jimmy) of Hillsborough and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Jason Cullum officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
