Rex Walker Reid

Mr. Rex Walker Reid, 91, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home surrounded by his family.

Rex was born on July 5, 1933, to the late George Edmond Reid and Nancy Vallie Fulp Reid in Forsyth County, NC.

Rex worked for R.J. Reynolds for 36 years where he retired as a mechanic supervisor. He was proud of his Army service in the 82nd Airborne where he served from 1952-1955. He was an active member of Konnoak Hills United Methodist Church as long as his health permitted, and enjoyed the fellowship with his buddies in the Methodist Men. He was also an active member of the Konnoak Hills Lion’s Club for many years.

In addition to his parents, Rex was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ima Jean Hilton Reid, whom he missed immensely; and a younger brother, Doug Reid of Winston-Salem, NC.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Robin Burgess (Larry) of Lewisville, NC; son, Eddie Reid of Hanford, CA; grandchildren, Jennifer Arnold (David) of Lewisville, NC, Josh Burgess (Renea) of East Bend, NC, Lauren Coelho of Hanford, CA, and Bridgett Welch (Jeff) of Hanford, CA; great-grandchildren, Carly Burgess of East Bend, NC, Christian and Anna Snipes of Lewisville, NC, Reid and Rhett Coelho of Hanford, CA, and Asher Welch of Hanford, CA; brother, Don Reid of Montreat, NC; and a sister, Kay Roberts of Charlotte, NC.

Rex never met a stranger and will be remembered for his friendly, kind, generous, fun loving spirit and his love for his family.

A funeral service to honor Rex’s life will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 12:00PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank his friends for all of the support and kindness shown during his illness. He loved all of you dearly.
