Mr. Rex Arlen Beshears, 83, passed away from this life July 13, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, after a seven year battle with Parkinson 's disease and Lewy Body Dementia, he is now in Heaven with the Lord. He was born January 25, 1931 in Wilkes Co. the son of the late Coy Edgar Beshears and Viola Welch Beshears. Rex was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and taught the Adult Men's Baracca Sunday School Class for 42 years. He also maintained Sunday School perfect attendance for 42 years. Rex also served as Deacon, usher, training union director, jail ministry and many other committees at Bethany. He read his bible through 11 times and has led many to Christ. He attended Hanes Elementary School and Clemmons High School. Rex graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College. He worked as a mechanic at Modern Chevrolet and Sears Auto Service Center. His last full time job was owner and operator with partner, Jimmy Weaver, of the Dine-In-Car at Liberty St. and Akron Dr. They operated the business for over 20 years. Rex also enjoyed golf, fishing and bird hunting. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Whicker and Karen Fulp (Bill), a foster son, Danny Lee Mabe (Rhonda), a sister and brother-in-law, Marie Nifong (Pete), a brother and sister-in-law, Bill Beshears (Jackie) and a brother-in-law, Luther Landreth. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, June Hutchins Beshears of the home, a daughter, Crystal Bailey f South Carolina, a step-daughter, Karen Leigh Sales (Leon) of Winston-Salem, 14 grandchildren, Penny Hayes, Kim Whicker, Jason Whicker (Jamie), Jennifer Davis (Ross), Anna Bailey, Jessie Bailey, Mitzi Eaton (Dwayne), Leigh Seney (Ronald), John Fulp, Michelle Gourley (Dwayne), Angie Freeman, Tonya Mabe, Tina Allen and Dustin Mabe, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Pauline Pike (Bud) and Frances Landreth both of Clemmons and Angela Francis (Tony) of Dallas, TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Brad Stamey and Rev. Brian Alverson officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 this evening Monday, July 14, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Memorials may be made to: Kate B.
