Mrs. Revonda Gail Hawks Arrington, 58, passed away at her home on Friday evening, March 12, 2010. She was born in Surry County on February 19, 1952 to the late Thomas Howard Hawks Sr. and Wilma Journey Hawks. Mrs. Arrington was of the Baptist faith and was a loving wife, mother and friend that will be missed by everyone who knew her. She loved children dearly and would always make time to help the elderly. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dean Hawks. Mrs. Arrington is survived by her husband of 39 years, Al Arrington of the home, two sons, Aldie Steven Arrington and Joseph Dyer both of King, two sisters, Shelia Gwynn and husband Larry of Ararat and Janet Hunter and husband Rick of Walkertown, two brothers, Thomas Howard Hawks Jr. and Dale Hawks and wife Rita both of Mt. Airy, several nieces and nephews and her best friend, Tammy Dyer of King. A memorial service will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with the Rev. Kenneth Hawks, Rev. Gilbert Hawks, Rev. Ricky Shrewsbury and Rev. Darrell Sibbett officiating. The family will receive friends directly following the service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
