Rev. Max Taylor Furr, 81, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. He was born in Guilford County on February 13, 1940 to the late Cyril Worth and Mildred Inez Taylor Furr. Rev. Furr spent 35 years as a Missionary in Peru, Honduras, and the Spanish Baptist Publishing House in El Paso, TX and also served as a Pastor at four churches. He was a teacher who had a special heart for Hispanic Christian Ministry. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Joan Fisher Furr; infant son, Byron Fisher Furr and a brother, Wayne Furr. Surviving is his wife, Bonnie Collins Furr; two sons, Scott Furr (Diana) of Oak Ridge, NC and Bryan Furr (Jocelyn) of Abilene, TX; five grandchildren, Justin Furr (Sarah), Kristen Furr Kulesz (Jon), Graciela Furr, Natalia Furr, and Jonathan Furr; two great-grandchildren, Conner and Kayden Furr; also surviving are two brothers, Jimmy Furr (Mary Lou) and George Furr (Linda) and a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Schillinger (Jerry). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Salem Baptist Church in Dobson, NC with Pastor Steve Hardy and Pastor David Powell officiating. Rev. Furr will lie-in-state at the church from 10:00-11:00 prior to the service. A private family graveside will follow the service in High Point, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, C/O International Mission Board, 3806 Monument Ave. Richmond, VA 23230.
