Reverend Thomas Edward Walker

Rev. Thomas Edward Walker, 94, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Village Care of King. He was born in Forsyth County on January 17, 1915 to the late Rober Wesley Walker and Claire Mabel Walker. Rev. Walker was ordained as a Baptist minister on July 10, 1946 in Pleasant View Baptist Church and Pastored Bannertown Baptist Church from 1945-1954 and Belews Creek Baptist Church from 1954-1965 and is currently a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Lillian Walker, a sister, Jessie Westmoreland and a brother, Virgil Walker. Rev. Walker is survived by his two sons, Jerry Edward Walker and wife Shirley of Pinnacle and Bruce C. Walker and wife Carolyn of Rural Hall, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a sister, Catherine Westmoreland, three brothers, Emmett Walker, Gerald Walker and Glenn Walker and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall with Rev. John T. Byerly, Rev. Mitch Robertson and Rev. Doug Anders officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
