Rev. George Robert Presson, ""Uncle George"" age 75 of Rural Hall went to be with His Lord and Savior Thursday evening August 4, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. George was born October 16, 1935 in Hopewell, VA to the late Burton Thomas Presson, Sr. and the late Mattie Jane Moore Presson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville in Winston-Salem. George taught Vacation Bible School in different states for many years, during which he was lovingly known as ""Uncle George"". He served as Pastor for several churches after graduating from Piedmont Bible College in 1973. George retired from Shugart Enterprises in 2002. In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by two brothers. Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Madeline Presson of the home. Two daughters: Cheryl L. Presson of Winston-Salem and Beth (Donald) P. Helton of Bostic, NC. One brother, Burton T. Presson of Zuni, VA. Several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday afternoon, August 7, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville in Winston-Salem by Rev. Eddie Honeycutt, Dr. Billy Martin and Rev. Joe Harrah. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Saturday evening August 6, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.
