Rev. Clyde Phillips, Jr.

Rev. Clyde Phillips, Jr., 80, of Advance went to be with the Lord on July 4, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 28, 1930 to Clyde and Laura Phillips, Sr. Rev. Phillips served in the ministry for 36 years. He was a member of Hanes Baptist Church, where he accepted his calling to preach Gods' word. Later he became a faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church and began his ministry at the following churches; Faith Community, Maranatha Baptist, Bannertown Baptist, New Hope Baptist and Hope Baptist Tabernacle. He then became a faithful attending member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church until going home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Carl Ray, Lester, Cletus and Claude ""Buster"" Phillips and two sisters, Dorothy Shelton and Barbara Dorse. Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Phillips; children, Steve (Anne) Phillips, Judy (Ricky) Williams, Janet (Ronnie) Davis and Ronnie (Andra) Phillips; Grandchildren, Mike (Shellen) Phillips, Angie (Chuck) Brown, Philip (Wendy) Williams, Kimberly (Jared) Hoots, Brittany Davis, Tiffany Davis, Gray Phillips and Steven Phillips; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mozelle (Tom) Slater and Juanita (Odell) Taylor and several nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church, 1324 Yadkin Valley Rd., Advance, NC. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Craddock and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating.
