Rev. David Herbert Perkins, 89, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 13, 1924 in New York to Andrew Clinton and Helen Pierce Perkins. Rev. Perkins retired after 25 years with the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention as a church planter. He also had 4 years of service with the International Mission Board as a foreign missionary to Antigua. He is survived by his wife, Maryellen C. Perkins of the home; a daughter, Gaynelle Bowman and husband Joe of Middletown, PA; a son, Dr. David D. Perkins and wife Lori of Advance; three grandchildren, Eric Herrell, David E. Perkins and Stephen A. Perkins and two great grandsons, Ashton Herrell and Gavin Zoeller. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
