Rev. Joe Alvis Law, 74, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 7, 1938 in Rockingham County to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Law of Rockingham County. Rev. Law graduated from High Point College and Duke Divinity and was adapted as a Methodist Pastor in June 1963. He married Judith Overby in September of 1963. Rev. Law served as Pastor in several counties such as Randolph, Rowan Forsyth, Rockingham, Catawba, Mecklenburg and Gaston. Surviving are his wife, Judith Overby Law; one son, Jeffrey C. Law of Kannapolis; a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Jean Law of Spruce Pine, NC; a sister, Linda Evans of Critz, VA; sisters-in-law, Shirley Overby and Linda Chambers, both of Eden; a nephew, Frank Chambers of Eden and a niece, Elizabeth Evans of Lawrenceville, GA. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012 at Ardmore United Methodist Church with Rev. Jock Ollis officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
