Rev. Richard G. Hicks

On July 28, 2016, The Lord called into His presence the Reverend Richard G. Hicks.
Reverend Hicks was ordained into the ministry November 1967. He faithfully and lovingly
served the Lord for 49 years at nine churches, including Edgewood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC and Center Grove Baptist Church in Clemmons, NC. Reverend Hicks attended Fruitland Baptist Bible College, Covington Theological Seminary, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a graduate of Glenn High School, Kernersville, NC. Reverend Hicks was married to Brenda B. Hicks for fifty-five years. In addition to serving faithfully together in the ministry, they had two children, a daughter, Melinda Pegram, who preceded him to Heaven, and a son, Barnabas (Barney) Ray Hicks. He is survived by his grandsons, Joshewa and Brendan Hicks, and his daughter-in-love, Kim Hicks. Richard is also survived by his two devoted sisters, Barbara Parker and Becky (Mike) Phillips, and two nephews, Danny Davis and Doug Rhue. The service to celebrate the glorious ministry and life of Richard Gordon Hicks will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Glenn View Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, NC conducted by Dr. Mark Harris and Reverend Lander Heafner. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fruitland Baptist College, in memory of Richard Hicks, 1455 Gilliam Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
