Rev. Harry Anderson Goble

Rev. Harry Anderson Goble, 88, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Brookstone Terrace. He was born November 13, 1921 in Gaston County to William Monroe and Anne Alexander Goble. He was one of eleven childrenand still has many surviving relations in the Gastonia area. Rev. Goble was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving on the Pittsburgh heavy cruiser during WWII. He served as a Southern Baptist Missionary on Guam from 1960-1966 where he started three churches. In 1967 he did chaplain training at Memorial Hospital in Carrboro, and was a social consultant with the N.C. Baptist Hospital from 1971-1986. Rev. Goble was the pastor at several churches here at home and was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Doris AnneGoble; two sons, Todd Anthony Goble of Greensboro and Kent Goble and wife Cynthia of Maryland; a granddaughter, Quentin Goble. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Ty Talton officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 15 at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
