Rev. John Alvin Felker, Jr.

Rev. John Alvin Felker, Jr., 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Wake Forest Uiversity Baptist Medical Center. He was born November 1, 1927 in Bethlehem, PA to Mollie Warfield Felker and John Alvin Felker, Sr. Mr. Felker was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic in Indianapolis, IN where he met his wife, Gloria. After attending Columbia Bible College, he became Local and State Director of Child Evangelism Fellowship of South Carolina. For several years, he was associate pastor at their home church, Tabernacle Baptist Church in South River, NJ. He enjoyed working at Encass Laboratories and Lowes Grocery Store in Winston-Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Dean Felker and one sister, Virginia Faust. Surviving are his wife, Gloria Gibson Felker; four sons, David Felker (Linda), Dan Felker (Julie), John Douglas Felker (Kim) and Daryl Felker (Kelly); two daughters, Darlene Duncan (Roger) and Dale Eichelberger (Dean); sixteen grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and six great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Grace Baptist Temple with Pastor Ed Sears officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Grace Baptist Temple.
