Rev. Emmitt Lee DeBusk, 85, passed away January 21, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Lee was born May 22, 1927 to Bertsy Edgar and Bessie Widener DeBusk in Washington County, VA. He proudly served in the US Army during World War II. He worked for Bahnson Company where he retired after 33 ½ years of service. Lee led a life of service as he pastored Calvary Church of the Living God for thirty years. He also ministered to the community through his many years of work with Taking It To The Street, Clothing and Food Ministry. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Kaylee Jones; a brother, Howard DeBusk; sisters, Buna Sprinkle, Edith Sprinkle, Mary Lawson, and Patsy DeBusk. Survivors include his loving wife, Myrtle Meadows DeBusk; five daughters, Brenda Turner (Glenn) of Midway, Linda Kay Pitts (Johnny) of Rural Hall, Sharon Thompson (Rick) of Salisbury, Deborah Martin of Winston Salem, and Patsy Corne (Billy) of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; four brothers, Sammy DeBusk (Ann) of Winston-Salem, Bert DeBusk (Marie) of Yadkinville, Leroy DeBusk (Carol) of Winston-Salem, and W.T. DeBusk of Winston-Salem; two brothers-in-law, Lonnie Sprinkle of Winston-Salem, and Charlie Lawson of York, SC; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Johnny Boone officiating and Rev. Sharon Thompson co-officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, followed by a meal at Central Terrace United Methodist Church, 3 East Devonshire St., Winston-Salem. The meal will be provided by Taking It To The Street Ministry, and all are invited to attend.
