Mr. Reece Miles of Davenport, FL passed away June 11, 2013 at Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, FL. Reece was born June 16, 1923 in Wilkes Co. to the late Robert F. Miles and Alice F. Hall Miles. He moved from Winston-Salem to Davenport, FL in September of 1972. While he lived in Winston-Salem he was employed with Hanes Hosiery as a machine operator. After moving to Florida he went to work with Barrington Mobile Homes in Haines City from where he eventually retired from. Reece was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving during WWII in places such as Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He always had many interesting stories of his time overseas. He attended Freewill Baptist Church in Haines City. Some of his interest included gardening and music with a special passion for Bluegrass. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 9 brothers and 3 sisters, he was the last of 13 children. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Shirley Miles, his children, Shirley Lawson (Ray) of Winston-Salem, Tim Miles (Nancy) of Walkertown, Teresa Bowers (Jimmy) of Germanton and Regina Borden (Trent) of Florida, two step-daughters, Bonnie Culver and Susan Tyler both of Florida, 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Miles will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor Jon White officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 this evening, Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
