KERNERSVILLE-Rebekah Anne Collins, 18, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010 after a long illness, at the University of North Carolina Hospital-Chapel Hill. She was born April 19, 1991 in Florence, SC to Michael Gene and Loain Frances Collins. Rebekah was a member of Kerwin Baptist Church. She attended Guilford Day School and was a member of the National Honor Society. Rebekah volunteered at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center prior to her illness. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Malcolm Blanchard; and her paternal grandfather, Gene Collins. In addition to her parents, surviving are her sister, Mary Beth Collins; maternal grandmother, Madeline Blanchard of Thorndike, ME; paternal grandmother, Frances Collins of Marion, SC; three aunts, Margie Collins, Jackie Knotts, Judy Blanchard; two uncles, Charles Collins, Stuart Blanchard; and several cousins. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Joe Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
