Kernersville - Rebecca Josephine Tabor Welch, died on Saturday, June 27 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. Mrs. Welch (Becky) was born on May 13, 1932, in Forest City, NC, to the late Rev. John Bascom and Ila Short Tabor. Becky graduated with a teaching degree from Lenoir Rhyne in Hickory, NC. She taught for a couple of years and decided it was not her cup of tea. Because of her love of working with numbers, she then went to work as an accountant. She worked for Hugh G. Strickland Construction until she retired in 1993. Mrs. Welch was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and mother-in-law. She was the glue that bonded the family together. As she always said, ""Your family are those who know all about you and still love you anyway!"" Becky enjoyed painting, working puzzles, gardening and reading. In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by, the love of her life, Mr. Jack Donald Welch, Sr. whom she married in 1955, and her younger sister, Ms. Nancy Ruth Aguilera. She is survived by their three loving children; Mr. Jack Donald Welch, Jr. (Amy), Mr. Kevin Tabor Welch (Carol), Mrs. Melanie W. Franks (Stephen); five grandchildren, Troy Donald Franks, Megan Rene' Franks, Eric Tabor Welch (Allie), Andy Wood (Megan), Chris Clarke (Kathryn); three great-grandchildren, Caleb Clarke, Stacy Wood and Evan Rose Clarke, with a fourth great-grandchild (a blessing from Eric and Allie Welch) on the way; a loving sister-in-law, Sandra (Bud Eaton); beloved nephew, John Michael Aguilera (Margaret), child, Carmen; a niece, Lisa Rabon, (companion, Ted), two children, David and Ashely; and two loving pets, Fresno and Cally. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Pine Grove United Methodist, with Dr. Bonnie Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
