Rebecca Byrd Mace

Rebecca ""Beckie"" Byrd Mace, 72, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at her home. She was born May 26, 1942 in Surry County to William Richard and Louise Hudson Byrd. She spent her childhood years in Elkin, N.C. before moving to Winston-Salem. Beckie was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an avid antique collector. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mace. Surviving are a son, Richard ""Rick"" Stine (Sara); two daughters, Carla ""Missy"" Craven (Willie) and Katherine ""Lou"" Venable (Billy); 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Carrie B. Chapple (Mike); 3 nieces, 1 nephew; and numerous loving cousins. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin, N.C. with Rev. Dale Hilton officiating. The family would like to express their thanks to Hospice for their care and support given to Beckie and to Chaplain Dan Swan for his visits and words of encouragement.
