Raymond Charles Caudle, 89, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 10, 2021. He slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus in the quiet of the early morning hours. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
Ray was born April 22, 1932, to Lester Gray Caudle and Ruth Mae Windsor Caudle of Winston Salem. He was predeceased by his parents and two siblings (Richard Caudle and Helen Caudle Baity).
Ray married Jane Hutchins on February 2, 1956. They enjoyed a long and loving life together as a military family raising three children, traveling, and serving others. Ray was active in his church as long as he was able. He served as song leader and occasional teacher.
Ray is survived by his children Craig Caudle and wife Debby and family of Georgia, Cris Johnson and husband Jeff and family of North Carolina, and Carole DeBruler and husband Greg and family of Florida, and brother Danny Caudle of North Carolina.
Ray was known for his big heart and quick wit. He loved to play games and watch westerns on TV. He was always ready with and joke and a hearty laugh. He was generous and kind to all he met.
Ray had a long work history beginning at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, then serving eight years in the United States Navy (serving during the Korean Conflict) and twelve years in the United States Air Force. He served honorably and well, fulfilling his duties as a true patriot. Later, he held various managerial positions several establishments in the years following his retirement from the United States Air Force.
The family would like to especially thank Erika Guarnier for her compassionate care of our Father and Pap in the last months of his life.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Anchored in Jesus Baptist Church 5451 NC 268, Dobson, NC.
