Raymond Daniel Reed

Raymond Daniel Reed, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 90. Raymond was born on August 5, 1933, to William Evan Reed and Carrie Flynn Reed. He graduated from Clemmons High School and retired after 35 years of service with Douglas Battery in Winston-Salem. He served in the Army honorably, stateside during the Korean War.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Colleen Reed, in 2021; two sisters and five brothers.

Surviving are daughter Robyn Bowman (Steve) of Winston-Salem; son Danny Reed (Anita Harrison) of Richmond, VA; grandchildren Whitney Stefano (Nick) of Granada Hills, CA; Harrison Reed of Spartanburg, SC; and Harper Reed of Richmond, VA; great-grandchildren Nicholas Stefano and Aria Stefano of Granada Hills, CA; and brother Jack Reed (Pat Reed) of Garner.

He volunteered with the Boy Scouts, Forsyth Memorial Hospital, Medical Park Hospital, and Crisis Control Ministry. Raymond and Colleen were avid travelers in retirement, enjoying many tours and years of RV camping in North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Raymond was a faithful and nearly life-long member of Rosemont Baptist Church. Over many years, he held multiple lay leadership roles there, particularly with the church choir.

He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and friend.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, 2730 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. In place of flowers, the family welcomes monetary gifts in Raymond’s honor to Rosemont Baptist Church, 415 West Clemmonsville, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
