Raymond Roy Miller

Raymond Roy Miller, 94, formerly of Clemmons, NC, died Sat., January 5, 2013 at Colonial Gardens in Florence, KY. Born December 15, 1918 in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Cieslak Murawski (changed to Miller in 1933). He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served in World War II on the USS Point Cruz in the South Pacific, having served as Electrician's Mate 3/c USNR. He worked for REA Express, Inc. for 40 years, and retired as Vice-President of Field Operations. He was recognized by the Ohio House of Representatives for his 10 years of service on the Montville Township Board of Trustees, as he fulfilled myriad responsibilities and distinguished himself as President of the Medina County Township Association, as Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Medina County Emergency Management Agency, as Vice-Chairman of the Medina County Solid Waste Policy Committee, and served on the Medina County Department of Human Services Advisory Board. He also gave selflessly as an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Medina, OH. Upon moving to Clemmons, NC in 1993 he became a Member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he was recognized for his outstanding service and leadership, having served as Liturgy Commission Chairperson, Parish Lectors coordinator, Minister of the Word and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Communication Commission chairperson, DSA program coordinator, President of the Seniors, and served on other committees as needed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Elsie Miertl Miller; his parents, Andrew and Mary Miller; his brother Frank Miller; his sister Clarice Miller Saladonis; and his grandson Nelson Scott Miller. He is survived by his son Charles R. Miller and his wife Myra McCall Miller of Sadieville, KY. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Raymond M. Miller and his wife Marsha Miller of Roswell, GA; Scott C. Miller and his wife Jennifer Miller of Cincinnati, OH; Katherine M. Miller Mital and her husband Tom Mital of Bend, OR, and his former granddaughter-in-law Amy Miller. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Benjamin S. Miller, Samantha M. Miller and Ethan C. Miller. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
