Raymond Mcgee

Kernersville - Mr. Raymond Eugene McGee, 79, passed away on Tuesday January 23, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. He was born on March 19, 1938 in Forsyth County to the late Raymond and Ella Eaton McGee. Eugene retired from RJ Reynolds in 1993 where he was a plant manager at the Brook Cove Processing plant. Eugene was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Kernersville, served in the National Guard, and volunteered at Forsyth Medical Center for 22 years. After retirement, Eugene loved playing golf and enjoying time with family and friends at his beach home in North Myrtle Beach. Eugene loved gardening and sharing his harvest with friends and family; as well as, sharing his beach condo with as many family and friends as possible throughout the years that he owned it.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Melvin McGee, Calvin McGee and Gaynel McGee.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Jean Stevens McGee, two sons, Steven McGee and wife Paula, Scott McGee and wife Robin; four grandchildren, Kristina McGee, Katie McGee Barker and husband Noah, Kathryn McGee and Michael McGee; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Kernersville with Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25, at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
The family expresses special thanks to his wife, Betty, Rosa Lee Sams, Carolyn McGee, Donald and Brenda Stevens, his pastor, and his golf buddies at Reynolds Park Golf Course for all their support and prayers during his illness.
