Raymond Kenneth Lawson

KERNERSVILLE - Raymond Kenneth Lawson, 82, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on October 23, 1932 in Winston-Salem to the late Paul Cornelius and Ida Melissa Ellen Lawson.

Ken was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church since 1965 and retired from Western Electric in 1980.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lonie Lawson; son, Mark Lawson; sister, Edith Brann; brother, Ralph Lawson; brother, Paul Lawson Jr.; and sister, Shirley Hester.

Surviving are his daughter, Mitzi Ball and husband Charles; son, Kent Lawson; seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons - Kimberly Abels and son Rhett, Adam Lawson, Alex Lawson, Melissa Ball and son Jayden, Justin Lawson and wife Kayla, Kenny Lawson, Corey Lawson; and daughter-in-law, Tammy Lawson.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson officiating. A private graveside service will be held later in the day at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday evening at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
