Raymond Earl Lawson

Mr. Raymond Earl Lawson, Sr., 93, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, May 2, 2015 at his home. He was born August 15, 1921 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Ernest William Lawson and Maggie Price Lawson. Raymond served in WWII and was a recipient of the Bronze Stars and Purple Heart. He was a building contractor, owned a used car lot and enjoyed working on old cars. Raymond was a dedicated father to his children and loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Salmon Lawson and his six siblings. He is survived by two sons, Ray (Shirley) Lawson; Rick (Peggy) Lawson; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Sink. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service with military rites will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Rev. Robby Sizemore officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 this evening May 5, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Betty Selvey, Sabrina Martin, Katie Priddy, George Spears and all the others for the love and support shown to Mr. Lawson in his time of need.
