Raymond Eugene Bowman

Mr. Raymond Eugene Bowman, 96, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the home he built with his own hands.

Raymond was born August 11, 1920 in Forsyth County to Charles and Addie Proctor Bowman. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On November 1, 1941, Raymond married the love of his life, Olive Ernst Bowman, in a ceremony at her parent's homeplace in Old Salem. Raymond retired from Fritts Motor Company after 40 years of service. He was an active member of Advent Moravian Church and in his free time loved to do woodworking and enjoyed gardening. A giving and loving man, he will be fondly remembered as someone who always put others before himself. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his birth mother, Pearl Frances Logan Cecil, brother, James Cecil, sister, Doris Fish, infant sister, Louise Cecil, and his wife.

Raymond is survived by his children, Nancy Plott of Clemmons, David Bowman and wife Shari, Keith Bowman and wife Martha, and Martha Thomas and husband Jesse, all of Winston-Salem; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A celebration of Raymond's life will be held Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 3 pm at Advent Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow the service in the church graveyard.
