Ray Hamm Tilley passed away on Saturday April 5th at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He has now joined his beloved wife Mable of 67 years and his only daughter Brenda in eternity. Ray was born on November 10th 1924 in Stokes County NC to Bert Cox Tilley and Floyd Tilley. He was married to Mable Blackburn Tilley on March 7th 1944 in Danville, Va. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, daughter, and five brothers and sisters. Surviving are his granddaughter, his sister Mrs. Combs, and his brothers: Paul D. Tilley, Floyd T. Tilley Jr., and Harold W. Tilley, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ray was a WWII Veteran and flew in 35 combat missions in the Army Air Force. Ray worked for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company and retired after 35 years of service. He was well known for helping others in his neighborhood and throughout his life. The family and public visitation will be held on Wednesday April 9th from 1:30pm to 2:30pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Woodland Cemetery at 3pm.
