Ray Edward Testerman

Kernersville- Ray Edward Testerman, 79, passed away April 11, 2017, at his home after losing his battle with cancer. Ray was born on August 17, 1937 in Ashe County to the late Luther and Rebecca Jones Testerman.
Ray was a loving father, husband, and friend who was loved by all, especially his family. He was a very kind, humble man and constantly shared a positive attitude and a smile with others - known to many as ""Ray of Sunshine."" Ray was a member of Kerwin Baptist Church for over 51 years, where he was faithful to his Lord and Savior. He served as a Deacon, and worked with the bus ministry through the years, was a Soul winner, and actively shared his passion for television and radio with the broadcasting ministry.
He was a veteran of the US Army and retired as a Broadcasting Engineer from WXII Television where he fulfilled his brilliant engineering skills in radio and TV. After retirement Ray's hobby was keeping radio transmitters on the air!
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Ann Hensley Testerman; two daughters, Robin Dias (Rutinaldo), and Tonya Upton (Robert); six grandchildren, Mark Evans, Jr., Lauren McMahon (Chad), Holly Castle (Matthew) Leighton Upton (Janelle), Felipe Dias (Suzanne), and Shae Upton; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Thomas, Ella Mae Brooks, and Virginia Weaver; a brother Ralph Lee Testerman (Peggy) and a sister in law, Saddie Testerman.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Kerwin Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Myers and Pastor Daniel Hawtree officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 14, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
