Mr. Ray Ellis Beeson, 96, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at his residence. He was born October 2, 1912 in Davidson County to Richard C. and Zella Mendenhall Beeson. Mr. Beeson was a member of First Wesleyan Church where he was superintendent of Sunday school, an usher, and on the board of trustees for a number of years. He was retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Darnell Beeson; two brothers, Ernest and Archie; two sisters, Edith Gordon and Lillie Ingram; and a granddaughter, Tammy Beeson Bergsmith. Surviving are three daughters, Nancy B. Fulk and husband Don, and Deborah B. Barker and husband Carl, all of Winston-Salem, and Joyce B. Proctor and husband Rodney of Germanton; two sons, Jerry Beeson and wife Linda of Walkertown and Larry Beeson and wife Faye of Winston-Salem; one brother, Allen Beeson of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Margie B. Glasco and Jane B. Robertson, both of Winston-Salem, and Mary B. Brown of High Point; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 16 at First Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Tommy Albertson officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
