Ray Carrington Adams

Mr. Ray Carrington Adams, 56, passed away at his home on July 13, 2015. Ray was born on May 4, 1959 to Howard J. Adams and Mary Proffitt Adams in Forsyth County. He was highly involved in the Humane Society, benefitting many animals over the years. He loved to be on the water, whether white-water rafting, fishing, or participating in a variety of water sports. Hiking and photography were also activities he greatly enjoyed. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by 2 cousins, Mary Tilley, and Victoria Burcham; 3 aunts, Elsie Beaver, Laura Proffitt, and Cathrine Spainhour. Surviving to cherish his memory are his ex-wife and best friend, Leigh Ann Davis Adams; brothers, James Howard Adams (Kristie), and Paul Thomas ""Tommy"" Adams; a nephew, Thomas Proffitt Adams; cousins, Kathy Heath, Lisa Holder (John), Mike Spainhour (Frankie), Toby Spainhour, David Spainhour, Laura McLeod, Patricia Beaver; a very large extended family; special friends, David Clodfelter, Steve Coe, Julie Youngblood, Steve and Teresa Lohr; and his beloved canine companions, Eli and Layla. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Arlan Faircloth officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, July 15, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Forsyth Humane Society, 61 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
