Ranney Eugene Wright, 76, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at his home surrounded by family.

A funeral service will be held 12 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Thomas "Lee" Wilborn officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

Mr. Wright was born December 21, 1946, in Wythe County, Virginia, to Mr. Roosevelt Eugene Wright and Mrs. Verna Copeland Wright. In his free time, he loved fishing and spending time with his family. Ranney was known as Papa to many and was always putting a smile on people’s faces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Clemmons, and Wilma Davis; and one brother, Michael Wright.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years, Rita Wright; two daughters, Ericka Wright Lawson (Michael) of Kernersville, Natalie Vanessa Reed (Rickie) of West Virginia; one sister, Thelma Reynolds of VA; six grandchildren, Joshua, Michael Jr. (Maddie), Graceann, Erik, Chloe, and Noah. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
