Randy Lawson

Randy Neil Lawson, adoringly Skipper, left this world unexpectedly on May 25th, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie Matthews Lawson, of 41 precious years, his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Cassie Lawson, daughter and son-in-law Maggie and Blake Bohannon, and 6 beautiful grandchildren, Carter, Lilyanna, Simon, Harrison, Callaway, and Boone. Additionally, a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Barry Stevens, a brother, Wayne Lawson, one aunt and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Claude and Iris Lawson of Sandy Ridge as well as his son, Jeremy Lawson.

A faithful husband and devoted father. A brilliant storyteller, compassionate provider, a loyal businessman, and someone who was always willing to share a joke or meet a need. Randy was the proud owner and pharmacist of the former Mount Pilot Drug in Pilot Mountain. It was here that Randy spent many years making an unforgettable impact on his faithful customers, his employees, and the community at large. His giving nature and nurturing spirit will certainly live on in those that were influenced by his kindness.

We hope you will join us in honoring Randy’s life and legacy by taking some time to enjoy a few of the things that he loved most: fishing, golfing, and Tarheel sports. A public visitation will be held on Sunday, June 5th from 2-4 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Pilot Mountain (210 W. Marion St.). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Surry Medical Ministries Clinic (PO Box 349 Mount Airy, NC 27030).
