Randy Bowen

Randy H. Bowen of Kernersville, went to Church many Sundays as was his custom, but on this particular Sunday, November 23, 2008 - it was different; he went to church in Heaven. He left peacefully from his home, fully aware where he was going, and many times, spoke words so comforting to his family and friends: ""I'm ready to go"". He was born to Doris and Ray Bowen on February 22, 1952 and lived his life in this area. He graduated from West High School and served the country he loved in the armed forces for two years.. Later, he earned a degree as an electrician, and he formed Bowen Electric, Inc. which he operated as long as his health permitted. Randy professed Christ as his Savior in 1961 and joined Hanes Baptist Church, where he proved his Christianity by his faithfulness and love. He was a ""down to earth"" man, who lived without pretense. His hobbies were fishing and pitching horseshoes. His dad, Ray Bowen, preceded him. His devoted mother, Doris Bowen and two brothers, Tim and Kendall Bowen, all of Winston-Salem are among his survivors. Also left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 33 years, Mary C. Bowen; a son, Kelly Bowen and a special friend, Amy Grubb of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Krystal Payne and husband, Jacob of Kernersville; and a love of his life, a grandson, Holden Bowen. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25 from 6-8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Randy's service, celebrating his life and homecoming, officiated by Pastor Ron Groce will be on Wednesday, November 26 at 2:00 pm at Haworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Prior to the service, his body will lie in state thirty minutes in the chapel. Interment will be at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, immediately following the service. Help fulfill one of Randy's dreams of a new church, by making memorial donations to the Hanes Baptist Church Building Fund, 4210 Sabrina Lake Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27127.The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the many friends who continuously performed benevolent acts during Randy's lengthy illness. So long, Bro. Randy, until the dawning of that great eternal morning, when we shall enjoy Heaven with you forever.
