Randolph Frank Modrow, age 69, passed away in Winston-Salem, NC Sunday March 10th, 2024. He was born January 23rd, 1955, the son of William and Anna Modrow in Chicago, Illinois; the fourth of five brothers. Randy lived in Chicago and married Anne Tyler Modrow prior to moving to Winston-Salem, North Carolina in 1977, for his job with AT&T. Randy was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church, member of the Knights of Columbus, and a loving husband and father. He was quick to smile, offer kindness and a laugh to those around him, loved sports, chess, and reading. Randy had a tremendous work ethic and spent 30 years in hospitality welcoming travelers to Winston-Salem and was well loved by his many co-workers. He also had a deep sense of patriotism and served with the US Census Bureau for 20 years. His dedication to family and community will be remembered by those who knew him. Randy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anne and three children: Matthew, 41 (Madelaine); Keith,39; and Karen,37 (John Lingerfelt).
The family will be holding a wake Friday March 15th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway. There will be a Funeral Mass Saturday, March 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 1730 Link Road, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations in his name to his local Knights of Columbus scholarship fund via Our Lady of Mercy (https://abundant.co/ourladyofmercycathol/give) please include in the memo “council #10504 and scholarship fund” to contribute.
