Ralph Lee Wohlford

LewisvilleMr. Ralph Lee Wohlford, 94, passed away at home on Sunday, January 20, 2013. He was born in Wytheville, VA on August 23, 1918 to the late Clarence Bullard and Mattie Umberger Wohlford. As a child, he was raised in Marion, VA and as a young man he served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Ralph later moved to Christiansburg, VA to start his family with his wife, Jeannette. In 1960, he moved to Winston-Salem where he worked as a real-estate broker owning Wohlford Realty Co. with Century 21. Ralph was a long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Preceding him in death was his wife, Jeannette Nixon Wohlford. Surviving are three sons, Steve Wohlford and wife Jane of Clemmons, Roger Wohlford and wife Eve of Greenwood, SC, and Richard Wohlford and wife Melanie of Lewisville; four grandchildren, Amy Fearrington, Lori Saunders, Colin Wohlford, and Tristan Merriman; 8 great-grandchildren and a sister, Lillian Wells of Rockville, Maryland. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Rev. Kevin Conley and Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
