Ralph Hamilton Sharpe, Jr.

Ralph (Buddy) Hamilton Sharpe, Jr., 67, of Winston-Salem, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Statesville, NC on June 8, 1945 to Ralph and Mary Icenhour Sharpe who preceded him in death. Ralph was a graduate of Griffith High School and Western Carolina University. He lived most of his life in Winston-Salem. He was a teacher in the Forsyth County School System until he was stricken with a debilitating illness at a young age. His greatest joy in life was time spent with his children, fishing, and playing with his grandchildren. He also had a God-given talent for playing guitar despite never being formally educated to do so. He was a humble man with a big heart who will be sorely missed by friends and family. Ralph is survived by his four children, Chris Sharpe, Bradley Sharpe (Wendy), Scott Sharpe (Jennifer), all of Lexington, and Lori Wilson (Shawn) of Danbury; his sister, Brenda Jane Adams (Jesse) of Winston-Salem; his grandchildren, Bailey Sharpe, Foster Sharpe, Kaitlynn Wilson, Kameron Wilson, Dakota Wilson, and Mason Sharpe; two nieces, Lisa A. Jones and Dr. Robin D. Adams. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their professional and compassionate care. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the residents and staff of Forsyth Village Assisted Living for loving and caring for Buddy all these years. He loved you all. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Gospel Light Baptist Church, 890 Walkertown-Guthrie Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
