Ralph Kiger

Mr. Ralph Vernon Kiger, 86, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home. He was born in Forsyth Co. on August 1, 1931 the son of the late Ernest Levi Kiger and Alice Tuttle Kiger. Mr. Kiger retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 35 years of service and was a lifelong member and past deacon of Jefferson Christian Church in Rural Hall. He loved trains and enjoyed everything to do with the railroad. Mr. Kiger served our country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Kiger; and two brothers, Henry Kiger and Bobby Kiger, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carell Kiger; a son, Jeff Kiger (Donna); a daughter-in-law, Melissa Kiger; a grandson, Chris Kiger (Tessa); four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Isabella, Christopher and Novella; and a brother, Leslie Kiger. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Jefferson Christian Church with Steve Cook, Minister and Jerry Simpkins, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 this evening, Friday, February 23, 2018 at Jefferson Christian Church. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care for the care and compassion shown in Ralph's time of need.
