Ralph Harold Frye

Mr. Ralph Harold Frye Sr., 80 of Advance joined our Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 6, 2011 while in the Palliative Care unit at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born January 17, 1931 in Forsyth Co. to Clyde Harold and Lena Pope Frye. Mr. Frye retired from the Winston-Salem Police Department with 30 years of service and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korea Conflict and was a member of the Smith Grove Ruritan Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Martin Frye and a son, Ralph ""Marty"" Frye, Jr. Surviving is his wife, Minnie Lewis ""Buttons"" Frye; two daughters, Toni Shore Houston and husband Royce and Bonnie Bowman and husband Tom; two granddaughters, Christy Cope and husband Tracy and Keely Bridges and husband Jason; stepson, Roger Lewis; great granddaughters, Kate, Grace and Caroline and his sister, Mary Ellen Gardner. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Greg Little officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
