On the evening of January 13, 2010, God saw Ralph was getting tired, so he called him home. Ralph was born on January 3, 1943 in Randolph County to Charity Elizabeth and John (Johnny) William Brown, Sr. Ralph enjoyed racing and sports, but above all he cherished the time he spent with his family. He was of the baptist faith and was last employed at Food Lion and Stills Lawn Service. Preceding him in death was his parents; grandson, Scotty Lee Pyrtle; two sisters, Annie Nelson and Rachel Cardwell and four brothers, Henry, Junior, Shorty, and Ruben Brown. Surviving are four daughters, Sandra Brown Creasey (Brian) of Mt. Airy, Connie Brown Poindexter (Byron) of Pfafftown, Kimberly Brown Wortman (Matthew) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Kristy Brown also of Phoenix; three grandchildren, Shannon Simmons, Bradley Woods, and Riley Wortman; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nellie Thomas (Richard) of Polkton, NC, Elsie Hoots of East Bend, and Virginia Malcom of Winston-Salem; brother, Carl Brown (Mary Alice) of High Point; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and many friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Mr. Brown will lie in state one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Ralph's honor to the charity of the donor's choice.
