Raleigh Gordon Ingram

Mr. Raleigh Gordon Ingram passed away on March 10, 2016. He was born Sept 1, 1916 to the late Henry Gordon and Rosa Barrow Ingram. Mr. Ingram was an active member of Friedland Moravian Church as long as his health permitted. He was a willing and devoted participant in the work of the congregation, serving many years on the Board of Elders.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was stationed at Barksdale Field in Shreveport, Louisiana. He completed a course in business accounting at Norton Business College in Shreveport. Mr. Ingram retired from Rominger Furniture Company as their chief accountant after 32 years of service.
Raleigh had a gift and passion for raising a garden for all of his life, as long as health allowed. He derived great joy from giving his home-grown vegetables to family, neighbors and friends.
Raleigh enjoyed over 60 years of marriage to Emma Weavil Ingram, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him were two sisters and their husbands, Rachael Ingram Stephens(Herman) and Lucy Ingram Warren(CI); two brothers and their wives, Glenn E (Marie) and Virgil S (Louise); one brother Fred S (Ruth); and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Ingram. He is survived by a son, Ronald G Ingram and his wife Pat; two grandsons, Brad Williard, Chris Williard and his wife, Pamela; three great-grandchildren, Ben Williard, Megan Williard, and Jacob Williard. He is also survived by a sister, Melrose Ingram Johnson and her husband, Don; a brother, Frank R.; and a brother Vernon S. and his wife Peggy.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Artis H. Smith as Raleigh's caregiver and personal assistant for the last eight years.
Services for Mr. Ingram will be conducted at Friedland Moravian Church on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 3:00pm with the Rev. Wayne Byerly officiating. Burial will be in the graveyard at Friedland Moravian Church. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
