Rajesh Vishnu “Raj” Gangwani, 56, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 26, 2022. He was born on March 17, 1966, in Anchorage, AK, the son of the late Victor Gangwani and the late Peggy Rose Shelton. Raj attended Fork Union Military Academy where he learned to play football. He graduated from Reynolds High School, where he was a standout football player. Raj then became an AP mechanic and worked in the airline maintenance field before joining the family business. He worked for Victor of Hong Kong/Ashneil as a salesman, traveling all over the country, promoting the family business. Raj was well known and never met a stranger, had a great sense of humor, knew how to have fun and always brought out the best in others. From his youth, Raj would become an avid snow skier. He was a Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers fan, enjoyed playing golf, fishing and boating. He will always be remembered for his adventurous and generous spirit, and his kind heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Reshma Gangwani. He is survived by his three children, Lagan Gangwani, Liam Gangwani and Asha Gangwani, and his lifelong love and mother of his children, Lisa Gangwani. Raj is also survived by dear family friend, who was like a big sister, Joy Dietz, as well as his many aunts, uncles and cousins, from across the country and around the world. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 Sunday afternoon, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to: American Diabetes Association.
